Facebook is testing a new feature focused on making plans with friends and generating get-togethers.
Facebook wants you to get friendly
Select Facebook users within Toronto and New Zealand are seeing notifications announcing that X number of friends may want to meet up during the week.
Clicking the link brings users to a page with photos of corresponding friends, along with the question: “Want to meet up with [so-and-so] this week?”
This beta test is available to users on Android and iOS, via the official Facebook App.
Keeping it confidential
Once prompted with the suggested friend to meet with, users will find the question accompanied with a ‘No Thanks” and “Yes” option.
All responses are kept private unless both users agree to connect through Messenger, which prevents any hurt feelings while maximising possible hangouts.
With the ability to create events and send invites, the new feature could be a bit of a redundancy, but with efficiency ever being the goal of apps and messaging, maybe Facebook is on to something.
What do you think about the potential feature? Have you been wanting a quicker way to plan a gettogether? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.
