The moment of truth is approaching: Facebook's getting close to launching its first scripted TV show. And it’s supposed to be quite funny.
Candid Camera
The series is the brainchild of comedian Nicole Byer, whose series Loosely Exactly Nicole was recently canned by MTV.
The show is a semi-biographical account of Byer’s life and she attempts to forge a career as a comedian and actress in Hollywood.
Now Loosely Exactly Nicole might be getting a new lease of life on Facebook., according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lights, camera, upload
Facebook is gearing up for a big TV push, and has reportedly signed deals with BuzzFeed and Vox to make longer-form content.
Dipping its toe with an existing show might be a safe early bet for the platform. Hulu and Netflix have both seen success reviving shows previously dumped by networks.
But as Apple’s widely panned Planet of the Apps reveals, making good tech and making good TV are two very different things.
