DIGITAL MARKETING NEWS

Four more reasons to love mobile

The news that mobile is big business isn't exactly a ground breaking statement. Mobile has been massive for some time now; what is interesting is how it's continuing to grow with seemingly no end in sight.

So we've put together four compelling reasons why marketers (and the rest of us) should really love mobile. If only we could get rid of those annoying ringtones.

Mobile moments

On average, users check their phones 150 times a day. That's an average of just over once every ten minutes – more when you consider most users will be sleeping around eight hours a day.

That's a lot of opportunities to connect with customers, as unlike PCs mobiles go everywhere with us.

Marketers must ensure the content they're posting, whether it's blog posts, images or videos, are created with a mobile audience in mind.

2. The personal touch

Because mobiles are so, mobile, they offer the savvy marketer a trove of information including geographic, spending and shopping data.

Through using advertising built into a mobile site or app, marketers can deliver more tailored content and promotions to users – which is a win for everyone.

3. Sharing is caring

Besides always being by the side of their owners, mobiles are great vehicles for your customers to access and share your content.

Need more convincing? Over half of all Facebook users access the platform from a mobile device, while platforms like Twitter and Instagram were created as apps to leverage the mobile experience.

For better or worse, mobiles will soon be allowed to be turned on during Australian domestic flights.

4. Contact

Mobiles are really good at connecting consumers with businesses.

A recent study found 70 per cent of mobile searches result in a follow up phone call to a business.

Also, over 50 per cent of users now use their mobile device to find business services, while 84 per cent of companies report a boost in business after employing a mobile-friendly website.
