While Google Docs and Office are technically rivals, that doesn’t mean that can’t occasionally play nice together.
In a nod to Office’s enduring popularity, Google has just released a raft up updates making integration with Office more seamless.
Virtual office
Google users can now edit Office files directly from Gmail.
Simply click on a new icon that appears with attachments, and Google will open the file via the relevant web app.
Streamline
Previously, users would have to download the file to their computer or Google Drive before being able to edit.
Now documents are accessible from either the email they were sent from, or Google Docs.
Google also announced it is supporting 15 new Office file formats, including presentation show files, macro-enabled files, and template files.
Google also promised increase support for tables, charts and images.
