Google Hat & Bracelet Camera Combo

In the latest indication that Google is still committed to letting people direct their own videos with the tilt of their head, they’ve been granted patent for two new wearable tech, camera-based devices.

New fashion photography

Google's received had two new patent applications approvals—this time, for more wearable tech: a hat and a bracelet.

The hat—formally lodged under the title Wearable Camera Systems—includes hardware, software and systems to capture and stream video for real time viewing.

The patent for the Camera Bracelet was less detailed. Being less about the tech and more about its aesthetic, the main claim of the application was ‘the ornamental design for a camera bracelet’. At a glance, it looks like a sleek, more jewellery-like evolution of a smartwatch.

Interactive sessions and security

The Wearable Camera Systems claims two immediate functions, claiming it can be used ‘for an interactive session with a remote user’ and ‘to interact with an emergency situation routing system’.

It is speculated that this would enable people in emergency situations to stream details to relevant agencies, potentially helping rescuers and maybe even deterring attackers.

Getting over Glass

Google’s most high-profile foray into wearable tech—Google Glass—stumbled at the blocks. The tech worked as planned, but the price tag wasn’t appealing enough to overcome consumer concerns.

There are no indications about if or when the hat and bracelet will get to market. The ideas may come to nothing, but they serve to illustrate Google’s ongoing interested in wearable tech and dedication to putting cameras in interesting places.
