Google’s online payment system Google Wallet is yet another product making the move to mobile.
Expanding Wallet
After a recent upgrade which saw Google Wallet allow micropayments of under US $1.00 for web content, Google has released the app for mobile devices to initiate the platform into the competitive mobile shopping realm.
Mobile merchandising
The newest upgrade sees the Wallet available on supporting e-commerce websites viewed on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, and pits it against online payment heavyweight PayPal.
Express lane
Google wrote in a blog post that one of the biggest reason shoppers pull out of sales is the difficulty of completing the sale on mobile devices.
Like PayPal’s express checkout option, Google Wallet allows users to click the “Buy with Google Wallet” button, login to their Google account and complete the order.
Billing, shipping and payment details must be set up in a Google account before downloading the Wallet.
Apple compatibility
So far, the Wallet is only available for Android-compatible devices, with Google looking to expand into Apple’s processing system soon.
