Instagram has recently been dabbling with feature called Archive.
It appears the testing went well, and Archive is now available globally to all Instagrammers.
Finders Keepers
As the name implies, Archive is a place you can save photos and videos, in a separate part of the app.
Tapping the “Three Dots” Button at the top right of a post will let you send content to your personal vault, where only you can view them.
24 Hours No More
Archive is in some ways a turnaround from Instagram and Snapchat’s main offering: ephemeral content that disappears after 24 hours.
By giving users the ability to access their preferred posts at a later date, Instagram could keep eyeballs away from Snapchat while boosting its engagement stats.
Win win?
