Instagram users will soon be able to invite friends to join in on live video.
The more the merrier
The idea is for users to “hang out and go live together.” The new feature is meant to spur live interaction between friends, akin to Skype or Facebook Video.
The new initiative is spurred on by the popularity of Instagram Live following its launch last November, and offers more engagement when connecting with friends
How it works
For users engaging in the testing phase, simply tap the icon found at the bottom-right of the screen while broadcasting within Instagram Live.
Next, a list of active users viewing the livestream will be made available and you need only tap “add” to send an invite to join. Once a user accepts, the viewscreen will split to show the original user on top with the new invited user just beneath.
Liking and comments will be business as usual. This is a smart step forward in expanding on the flexibility of Instagram’s existing network.
