Twitter has announced that it's now scanning its user's other apps – all in the name of delivering better content.

Twitter announced the news in a blog post.
“To help build a more personal Twitter experience for you, we are collecting and occasionally updating the list of apps installed on your mobile device so we can deliver tailored content that you might be interested in,” Twitter wrote.

To Twitter's credit, it was upfront about its actions and published a step-by-step guide for users who want to opt out of the update. Twitter also pointed out that it records the list of apps installed, not the data within.
Twitter predicts this new info will help them deliver more personalised “who to follow” suggestions, add more relevant tweets to your timeline, and point you in the direction of promoted content.
If users don't mind a bit of snooping in exchange for a more personalised experience, this update might just boost Twitter's bottom line.
