Messenger and PayPal have joined forces to expand mobile payment options for…just about everyone.
Pay the piper
Users will now be able to link their Messenger and PayPal accounts, while PayPal customers will receive notifications and receipts in Messenger.
The update comes as Facebook aggressively pushes Messenger as a payments platform. The app recently launched Messenger bots that can automatically receive payments.
Big winners
But the real winners here could be merchants using PayPal. The partnership opens these businesses up to a potential 1 billion users.
While the update is available in the US at the moment, there are plans to expand the partnership with Facebook and further abroad.
Which means there could be even bigger mobile fish to fry for mobile-savvy merchants.
