NBC News' recently launched Stay Tuned, an app based news program, is going rather well.
It now has 29 million viewers, 60% are under 25 years.
The medium is the message
The first ever daily news program on Snapchat, with co-hosts Savannah Sellers and Gadi Schwartz, is reaching more millennials, with a runtime of two-to-three minutes.
Snapchat’s first foray into news-based app content was actually a partnership with NBC during the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Money well spent
With an investment of $500 million in Snap’s IPO (Snapchat’s parent company) earlier this year, NBC Universal is reaping the benefits of a little strategic investing.
The partnership is already providing ripples with other news agencies as The Washington Post has also struck a deal to bring news coverage to the popular millennial app.
With attention spans shrinking and mobile use ever on the rise, the time is right for new paths to be forged in how we consume news content and news providers are sure to follow suit.
