Number Crunch: Facebook Q3

Facebook has just released its Q3 earnings, meaning it's time to take our quarterly look into the state of affairs at Mark Zuckerberg's social network.

Billion Dollar Baby

Facebook now has a mammoth 1.35 billion users, that's a 14% increase year on year.

Looked at another way, if Facebook was a nation it would be the third most populous, behind China and India.

And the country where Facebook is most popular? Canada.

Daily grind

Broken down further, 864 million of these are daily active users, while the average user spends 21 minutes every day on Facebook.

A further 72 per cent of online adults visit Facebook at least once a month.

Demographic

The most represented demographic on Facebook are 25 – 34 year olds, who make up 30% of total users.

Slightly over half (53%) of Facebook users are female, compared to 47% male. All these users currently generate some 4.5 billion Likes every day.

Mobile movement

Significantly, Facebook now has 1.12 billion monthly mobile users, of which 703 million are daily active users.

While around 30% (399 million) of Facebook users are mobile only.

Friends for life?

The average Facebook user has 300 friends. And while many weep for the youth of today, you may be heartened to learn 70% of teenage Facebookers are friends with their parents.
