PayPal has just released an update that streamlines the checkout process, and in doing so aims to boost conversion rates for merchants.
Easy does it
PayPal announced the update in a blog post, dubbing the new system In-Context Checkout.
Now when users want to make a payment they click on the PayPal icon on the merchant’s site at checkout. Instead of being taken to a PayPal page they now remain on the merchant’s site, ensuring a more seamless transaction.
Mobile friendly
In-Context Checkout also now delivers a consistent experience – when users log in to a merchant’s site from a desktop, laptop or mobile device the appearance remains unchanged.
In addition to these updates PayPal now allows merchants to add extra time for customers to pay, while more features including recurring payments and digital goods are in the works.
PayPal is currently trialling In-Context Checkout with a few partners, and is expected to make the service available to large and medium sized retailers over the following year.
