Pinterest has announced secret boards, a new feature that allows users to limit the visibility of boards.
Private pins
When creating a new board users now choose whether it will be public or 'secret'. Users can invite colleagues to view and curate secret boards, and change the board's visibility at any time.
“You can use secret boards to keep track of holiday gifts, plan a special event, or work on a project you aren’t yet ready to share with the rest of the world. You can keep your secret boards to yourself or invite family and friends to pin with you,” Pinterest software engineer Evrhet Milam wrote in a blog post.
Existing boards cannot be set to private, as images from these boards may have already been re-pinned and shared.
Leaps and bounds
Pinterest has grown astronomically this year, recently overtaking Yahoo! in organic traffic and topping Facebook in driving online sales, according to a report from Mashable.
Secret boards will help brands curating business-related ideas, project planning and sharing content with colleagues and clients.
Secret boards is now available online and with the latest version of the Pinterest app for iOS and Android devices.
