In a boon for all Pinterest users not based in the US, the platform's Localised Search feature has just been launched for global users.
Pins across the planet
Pinterest announced the news in a blog post.
"Pinterest Search results are now customized by language and country, to help international Pinners find local Pins that are more familiar and relevant to them."
Pinterest used the example of a German-based user searching for cake-basking ideas. Under the update this user will now be shown local Pins about decorating ideas, while both the Pin descriptions and the sites the Pins link to will be in German.
Local love
Pinners based in France, Germany, Japan and Portugal also have access to trending searches based on their country data and an international spell check.
Pinterest says international users have already pinned twice as many localised pins when they search, and spend more time on the Pin's source link after clicking-through.
With half of Pinterest's 100 million users based outside the US, expect more local Pins popping up soon.
