Pinterest is tipped to start rolling out ads before the year is out.
Pinterest for interest
According to a report from Business Insider Australia, Pinterest will launch its own ads API unit either this year or in early 2015.
An API will allow marketers to create and embed ads directly into Pinterest, using the platform's data to create more targeted units.
Facebook and Twitter have long used their own API's to create and direct their ads.
Feeling the Pin-ch
The news shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as Pinterest has gradually been rolling out features aimed at brands such as Product Pins and Business Pages.
Considering a recent report found Pinterest is the third most popular platform for consumers to share content, advertising seems an inevitable (and for rivals like Facebook and Twitter, unwelcome) development.
