Promoted Pins finally land in Australia and NZ

Pinterest has finally launched their most popular advertising format in Australia and New Zealand- Promoted Pins.

Pins are available for self-serve directly on the Pinterest ad website.

What are Promoted Pins?

Pinterest claims that Promoted Pins have a higher chance of users saving it to their boards of wish lists, inspirations and interests, just like any other ordinary Pins they discover.

Promoted Pins appear on search results and in the category feeds. However, Pinterest is currently testing ads in different places, including the home feed – which is the first page users see when they login to the platform.

Advertisers can set up targeting with Promoted Pins based on users’ interests and how users act on Pinterest, or retarget based on a website or app visit.

Pinterest in Australia

Pinterest, which launched seven years ago, reached 10 million monthly visitors faster than any other site in history.

The seemingly hyperbolic stats don’t stop there. Pinterest says 150 million people worldwide use the site each month, with 2 billion searches taking place.

There isn’t an official number of Pinterest users in Australia. However, it’s estimated that approximately 600,000 Australians use the site.

Although the figure is not as big as Facebook or Instagram, these users are very active – Pinning (or bookmarking) over 2 million ideas a day in Australia alone.

Some categories of businesses might benefit more than others; Home, Décor, Fashion and Food are some of the most popular categories in the channel.

If you think Pinterest is a good place for your business, start here with a business account – Pinterest for Business.
