Texting and video are two of the most popular pastimes on mobile and social. But until now there hasn't really be a good way to combine the two. That's a gap Hykoo is hoping to fill.
Text and shoot
Hykoo is an iOS app aimed at users who want to shoot and share video, but not necessarily step in front of the camera.
Inspired by the traditional haiku, the app allows users to create three video clips (two three-second clips and one six-second clip) that each has a layer of text superimposed on top.
Clips can be enhanced with a range of filters.
Different perspective
The unique format is intended to create a narrative for the videos, while the text adds another way for users to express themselves.
Once uploaded, users can share their "Hykoos" on social, email and text.
Start it up
Meerkat and Periscope have shown users have a lot of time for streaming video, while Vine and Instagram confirm that short-form user generated content is a winner.
Hykoo will officially launch at this year's Tribeca Film Festival. Stay tuned to see if Hykoos become the next Snapchats or Vines.
Or give it a whirl yourself at hykoo.co.
