SMK’s app of the week: OftenType

Here on the SMK blog we do a lot of typing, so our ears always prick up when a new app comes along promising a new way manage our furious finger tapping.

The latest to come across our desk is the very clever OftenType

This iOS app has all the bells and whistles you'd expect: customisable keyboard, shortcuts and all the rest. We can get that anywhere.

What makes OftenType different is the ability to create special shortcuts for commonly used phrases and words.

Streamline this line

For example, instead of laboriously typing our your email or physical address on your iOS device, OftenType allows you to select a hotkey that will automatically fill in this info.

Simply select the globe icon on the iOS keyboard to set your hotkeys.

We also like the way OftenType allows you to store entire messages via a shortcut, especially handy if you need to bash out a generic missive to your contacts or colleagues.

All data is stored on your phone and automatically encrypted.
