Snap Amazon products with Snapchat

Snapchat is currently finetuning a new feature that utilises your phone’s camera to help identify songs, item barcodes, and of course products.

Snapazon?

New coding has been discovered on the latest Android version of Snapchat that will allow for the identifying of objects and more through a new visual search engine.

The feature can capture an image or song (presumably via your microphone) and send off the data to Amazon, Shazam, or any other company they may partner with.

Taking a photo of products is similar to Google Lens’ approach except Snapchat is using third-party integration to do the identifying, whereas Google does it inhouse.

Get shopping

To use the feature, simply snap a photo of the desired item, and a list of sellers and product reviews will populate the screen. Voila, you’re ready to buy.

Amazon links can also easily be copied and shared with friends which could be very appealing to Snapchat’s core demographic.

Snapchat is still clawing back from its $385m loss in Q1, but the plucky platform has seen success integrating with Shazam in the past. This could be their next big hit.

Do you think Snapchat has been bouncing back? What do you think about a Snap shopping experience? Give us your thoughts in the comments found below.
