Snapchat launches DIY Face Lenses

Snapchat has announced Studio, a new platform giving users the ability to created their own event-specific face Lenses.

There’s a Lens for that

Snapchat users can now choose from a myriad of selections, from bunny ears to mouth-protruding rainbows, to coincide with a posted event, thanks to the new Lens interface.

True to typical Snapchattery, all custom-made lenses will have mandatory time limits to be chosen by the creator.

Even as temporary content, each lens will have a base price of $9.99 and depending on location size and duration, prices for lenses will vary.

Money in the Augment

Snapchat’s augmented reality lenses are by far its most popular feature, thanks to Lens Studio's launch in 2017, allowing users creative license for the first time.

The new monetised feature is only available for desktop and iOS for now, with plans for Android in the immediate future. Lens Studio is also currently available to everyone through the official website.

Snapchat has managed to make a significant pivot in the shortfall of lackluster revenue last quarter. Monetised Lenses could prove fertile ground for growth.
