A new genre of programming is coming to Snapchat that will offer non-scripted episodes featuring social media personalities.
Doc + series
As other social media platforms continue to add and experiment with new content mediums, like Instagram’s IGTV and Facebook’s Watch, Snapchat is determined to carve its own original programming.
Whether unscripted proves to be the new trend all depends on what kind of “shows” boil out of the medium and at the moment it’s a bit early to say.
First round
Snapchat’s first docuseries, Endless Summer, will air later this year and follow vloggers Dylan Jordan and Summer Mckeen, a couple living in Laguna Beach.
Each episode will run from three to five minutes, while Snapchat is exploring other genres including news, sports, and dating.
For the curious, Bunim-Murray Productions are the people behind Endless Summer. In the past they've produced such gems as The Real World, The Simple Life, and Keeping up with the Kardashians. So…yay.
