Twitter has dumped the #Discover tab in favour of the brand spanking new "Tailored Trends".
Trendy time
Twitter announced the news in a blog post, explaining the change is aimed at making discovering trends easier.
"Trends are a great way to find out what people are talking about on Twitter at a given moment and at a single glance.
"Starting today, we’re making some updates to the trends experience on mobile to make them more informative and easier to find," wrote Gabor Cselle, Group Product Manager, Content and Discovery.
Hot to trot
Now users can click on the search bar to see "Tailored Trends", which are displayed with a brief description of each featured trends.
For example, #NYFW is identified as New York Fashion Week. The description may also include information about how many tweets the trend has generated, and whether it's trending up or down.
Road to Discovery
However there's only so much room for trendy types at Twitter, and the #Discover tab is no more. This tab previously allowed users to unearth content based on the activity of Twitter accounts they follow.
The "Tailored Trends" update casts a wider net, allowing mobile users to access topics that are trending globally on the platform.
