Twitter has revealed plans to add a video-centric ad format designed to wring more engagement out of users.
Video adds character to Twitter
The new service, Video Website Card, will allow marketers to create auto-playing video with customisable headlines which directs users to a fuller web or video preview.
Twitter says their new ad campaign option can be tailored for different goals, whether that be awareness, video engagement, or website clicks.
Goals can also be modified during the evolution of the ad campaign.
For example, a movie studio can design an ad to encourage trailer exposure, and later have the same ad connect to a website when closer to release to maximise ticket sales.
Video Website Card now available
Marketing campaigns may become broader and more flexible as the service finds its stride, which could bring more bang for the advertisers buck without relaunching a campaign that isn’t yet providing desired results.
Video ads on Twitter may mark a turning point in new revenue for the popular social platform, but will users be a fan of the new ad service? Only the tweets will tell.
