Twitter tweaks Analytics to up engagement

Twitter has launched an update to Twitter Cards that will give brands and publishers greater insights about their top tweets.

Retweet

Analytics for Twitter Cards provides a dashboard that includes information about impressions, URL clicks, mentions and app installs around tweets. It also provides new ways to measure favourites, retweets and follows.

“Now for the first time you can gain insight into how your content is performing on Twitter, and find personalized tips to help make more strategic decisions about your use of Cards,” wrote Twitter analytics product manager Buster Benson.

Tweak 'n' tweet

While Twitter has offered analytics in the past, this update is the most comprehensive the micro-blogging site has ever offered.

Analytics for Twitter Cards even shows how tweets impact on a brand's website, and provides insights into which content is the most successful. The service also suggests which Twitter Cards are most likely to boost engagement.

Interestingly, brands can nows see which Twitter users drive the most traffic to their account or website, allowing them to form stronger relationships with these users.

One-stop shop

While there are hundreds of third-party Twitter analytics tools out there, the update marks another way that Twitter is trying to keep users in its eco-system.

It also benefits users, who can now use just one service for Twitter analytics.
