YouTube has just made it easier for creators to share and cross-promote other videos on their channels.
Share the love
In a recent blog post, YouTube explained the update is aimed at helping content creators increase exposure for one another's videos.
Now creators can add a playlist that features videos from other channels. When another channel's playlist is featured, its avatar will be shown next to the playlist title. Users can hover over the avatar to learn more about the channel.
Channeling inspiration
Content creators can also feature other channels on their YouTube page.
“Multi-channel sections allow you to turn your channel into a single destination for viewers to access all of the other channels you own or love,” explained YouTube.
Good news for brands
This update marks a change from an open to a more segmented YouTube model.
If brands can get users into the eco-system of videos they produced and endorse, they will increase the chance of users staying longer on their channel.
It also means YouTube gets to potentially charge more for video advertising.
