YouTube, the popular video content creator, has now got 1.5 billion monthly logged-in users.
I Tube, you Tube, we all Tube…for YouTube
CEO Susan Wojicicki stated that 1.5 billion users is on par with one in five of the global population watching at least one video per month.
Riding the good will of their announcement, YouTube is also unveiling it’s new dynamic and VR friendly recoding format.
Now, content creators will be able to capture VR recordings without the need of 360° capabilities. The endeavour has been made possible with sister company Daydream.
Brought to you in stereoscopic
The process will involve recording videos through a stereoscopic format by which two videos are recorded simultaneously at slightly varied distances, providing viewers with the illusion of depth.
YouTube mobile will also be launching an update allowing for the player to adapt to any size of the user’s preference, such as horizontal, square, or vertical videos filling the entire screen.
True, the VR180 features isn’t full VR, but it’s adding another layer to the YouTube viewing experience. Whether or not this entices users new and old remains to be seen, but the addition is a notable one.
