Google is exploring ways its most established site, YouTube, can help promote its newest one: Google+.
While YouTube recently received an overhaul that saw the introduction of analytics and channels, Google is now pushing a stronger integration with Google+.
Sharing the wealth
Users logging into YouTube using their Google account are now presented with the familiar toolbar that appears on Gmail, Google Search and Google Docs. The toolbar shows Google+ notifications and allows videos to be more easily shared via Google+.
Currently the toolbar only displays for users logging into YouTube using their Google account, suggesting the company is testing the water with this new feature.
Google consolidates
After Google Search, YouTube is the second largest search engine on the web.
This latest move indicates Google plans to use YouTube’s massive reach to populate the (relatively) sparse landscape that is currently Google+.
