YouTube’s top videos for 2013

Tis the season for 'best of' lists, and in keeping with tradition YouTube has just released its list of the most popular videos for 2013.

A Norwegian Dance Troupe, Harlem Shake, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Psy clocked up the most the most views (and giggles) this year.

Top trending video

Music video The Fox by Norwegian comedy duo Yvis was the top trending video of the year and has so far been viewed over 280 million times.

At a distant second comes Harlem Shake, which is currently sitting on 95 million views and How Animals Eat Their Food, which has 88 million views.

Brands have also cracked the top ten with three entries this year: Evian's Baby&Me, Volvo Trucks's Epic Split with Jean-Claude Van Damme, and the Telekinetic Coffee Shop Prank, which was a promo for te remake of horror film Carrie.

Music videos

When it comes to music Psy still tops the list, with his new single Gentleman M/V claiming a tidy 600 million views (though still aways behind the 1 billion views he amassed for Gangnam Style.)

Making up positions two and three is Miley Cyrus (for Wrecking Ball and We Can't Stop respectively), followed by Roar by Katy Perry.

Australian square eyes

A little closer to home, the top trending videos in Australia were The Fox by Yvis, How Animals Eat Their Food, YOLO (featuring Adam Levine and Kendrick Lamar) and animated comedy asdfmovie6.
