Pinterest hits 250 million users

Pinterest has cemented itself as “a place where people come to focus on themselves” by hitting their multimillion dollar goal with a 75% boost in signups since 2017.

That’s a lot of pins

As head of global sales, Jon Kaplan, puts it, “If Pinterest were a country, we’d be the fifth largest in the world!” and though it might not have Facebook numbers, it does represent a significant global reach.

According to the data, 80% of new signups on Pinterest in 2018 were users who live outside of the US, which means they still have some growing to do at home and the rest of the world is already onboard.

Success in waves

Pinterest’s growth is built on the success stories of its users, like Wasana of Bangkok who used the platform to collect recipes and start her own cooking class.

Or Sean from Utah, who relied on Pinterest to keep up to date on tech trends and remain in the know for his own graphic design work. According to the company there are many many more.

New promotional video formats, Shopping Ads, and new Pinterest business profiles are spurring a lot of the success with brands noticing they have 1.4X more ad success compared to other social media platforms. The world of social could certainly use the variety.
