Facebook Messenger is introducing a new feature that lets you add new participants to chats already in session.
Let me just conference you in
At present, if you are already chatting with someone via audio or video chat in Messenger, users must hang up and reconnect if they want to increase the amount of members in the conversation.
The new option will simply appear in the chat by tapping the screen which prompts as “add person” icon. The user need only select the applicable user.
Upon ending a group session, the conversation can be archived with an automatically generated group chat, that will appear in a user's inbox.
The party grows
The ability to add more members in real-time without disengaging the conversation is meant to keep a discussion going, without interruption or breaking the momentum.
Adding others seamlessly to your call is available on Android and iOS devices worldwide, with the latest version update.
Facebook is no doubt awaiting user feedback regarding the new chat feature and will be looking to implement similar innovations in the weeks to come. So for now, they just want you to get talking.
Have you found it cumbersome to add others to existing chats? What do you think about the new feature? Let us know in our comments below.
