‘Rewarded ads’ are growing in popularity, so AdMob is making it easier to see how yours are working.
AdMob’s rewarded ads
AdMob—the mobile advertising company acquired by Google in 2009— launched ‘rewarded ads’ on their platform last year.
Rewarded ads that appear in an app, giving the audience an option to view an ad in exchange for a digital good or other in-app reward.
Virtual incentives used to motivate ad viewership include bonus content and extra in-game abilities.
Rewarding metrics
Google’s AdWords blog notes that rewarded ads have experienced ‘a 9X increase in impressions’ since they launched on AdMob.
As the success of the app monetisation format soars, AdMob is now expanding its data reporting capability for factors uniquely associated with ads.
As of now, AdMob users can get ‘open beta’ access to deeper data about rewarded ads managed through the platform. This extra information includes:
– Opt-in rate
– Consumption rate
– Rate of reward use.
Applying new data
Strategically, the new reporting should facilitate even greater success for the ‘rewarded ads’ format.
Users will be able to analyse the data and optimise according to when the ads should appear and what rewards are best to offer.
Do you think rewarded ads have the potential to benefit your business? Why or why not?
