Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the iOS App Store, App Annie has released a retrospective of the best iOS apps on record.
Quite the decade
App Annie, which started tracking data in 2010, has an all time best list sorted by most downloaded, most revenue, and apps of the year.
With more than 170 billion downloads and over $130 billion in consumer spending, a true tally is no easy feat.
In Games, number one in revenue is Clash of Clans ($4 billion), followed by Candy Crush, which happened to be the most downloaded (more than 280 million times).
App Annie also developed a comprehensive list of the top developers, with Electronic Arts coming in first, China’s Tencent rounding out second, and France’s Gameloft rolling into third.
What of the apps?
It may come as little surprise that Facebook sits as the world’s most downloaded app, followed by Messenger, Instagram, Google, and WhatsApp.
In Subscriptions Netflix comes is the number one paid app at over $1 billion in global revenue, followed by musical magnates Spotify and Pandora. Tencent Video and Tinder also make honourable mentions.
A complete list of app data released by App Annie can be found here.
