Amazon Spark is poised to improve product discovery through user-posted shoppable content.
I like this, now you can like this
Much like Instagram’s niche of shoppable photos, Amazon users can now post images, stories, or products of interest, that other users and comment and react to.
The hope is to capture off-site social activity around a given product and bring the buzz back to Amazon for one-click purchases.
Available through “Program & Features,” users can choose a minimum of five interests to follow, which in turn generate a personalised feed of suggested products.
Amazon for you
Not surprisingly, Spark will tailor Amazon’s most popular product categories to match your chosen interests.
While “Toys & Games” and “Style & Fashion” will show up as standard categories, more eclectic tags, such as “Internet of Things” and “TV Bingewatching” are examples of more narrowed focuses.
So a suggested photo will contain products for purchase via Amazon, offering a less intrusive sort of advert for the new shopping feature. Shopping is about to get a lot more social.
