Facebook launches Stories archive

Now users can save their cherished Stories for all time thanks to the wide success of their video and photo linking medium.

Re-use and recycle

Facebook has rolled out an archive option for Facebook Stories, just like Instagram’s. To have a squiz launch of last year, user will notice a new indicator appearing above the top of Facebook Stories.

Initially announced back in May, the new addition could provide a very useful purpose for brands and marketers utilising the medium, creating a sort of library of advertisement.

Story posts will be stored in an archive not visible to other users and can be switched off while keeping to a 24-hour expiration window, but now users at least have the option.

Bang for the buck

Marketers may appreciate the permanence of a Stories archive when investing into adverts that won’t simply disappear.

Best performing Stories can be re-used at will or even revisited for inspiration, which may lend a leg up to analytics of successful campaigns.

What remains to be added is a highlights section within profiles for favoured Stories, which could be next. With the success of the feature as a story telling medium, the innovations are far from over.

What do you think about the latest addition of an archive? Are there stories you wished you could have saved? Let us know in the comments.
