Snapchat has released Campus Publisher stories for US college newspapers to create exclusive content for the platform.

Weekly additions of campus newspapers will be made available through Snapchat Discover, accompanied with to generate revenue.
Currently four newspapers have launched with the new feature: Berkeley’s The Daily Californian, Syracuse’s The Daily Orange, Texas A&M’s The Battalion, and UW Madison’s The Badger.
Though Snapchat had previously offered Campus Stories, focused on user submitted photos and videos, Campus Publisher Stories will operate as a digital news delivery service.
Larger agencies are also getting onboard
Snapchat’s media network already includes outlets such as CNN, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Mashable, NBC, and the New York Times – creating an entirely new app-based media network.
Over the past year, Pew Research Center has reported Snapchat Discover usage increasing from 17% to 29%.
College newspapers will be able to benefit from the new delivery platform with an ad revenue split through Snapchat. With a modernised app model, the trend may catch on with other social media juggernauts, marking a new age for news.
