Online marketplace Etsy has released its most recent member and sales statistics in the lead up to the holiday shopping season.
20 million mark
As of late October, the global Etsy community hit the 20 million member mark, with independent businesses and supporters found in over 200 countries around the world.
Sales have also passed $700 million for 2012, up 25% from the 2011 figure of $525 millio. By the end of 2012 over 100 million items will have been sold on Etsy around the world.
Based on these trends Etsy looks to have its most successful holiday season ever.
Christmas push
As well as their new smartphone app and Etsy Gift Cards, Etsy has invested in a multi-million dollar online advertising campaign, including search, display and video advertising to support the upcoming holiday trade.
Etsy’s first ever pop-up store will also take its place in New York City’s SoHo neighbourhood from 29th of November until the 8th of December. The shop will feature hundreds of Etsy sellers, as well as gift selections from well-known curators.

Etsy stay strong down under
