Twitter continues to tweak

While it's taken awhile to determine how it would move beyond 140 characters, Twitter is quickly becoming one of the most dynamic social media sites, constantly rolling out and tinkering with new features.

Here's what happened in the Twittersphere this week.

Tweets from email

Soon tweets will be able to be shared via email, directly from Twitter's website.

While this feature has been available on the Twitter app for some time, website users can now share tweets with friends who aren't on Twitter, and have the option of including a personal message.

Discover more

When users search for a person, event or hashtag under the Discover tab, Twitter now displays a grid of the most relevant media above the stream of tweets.

Search results are also more transparent, so users can now see who favourited or retweeted the content that is displayed.

App updates

Twitter's iOS and Android apps haven't been forgotten, and now photos and article summaries automatically display previews in the user's stream.

This means content such as images and video no longer has to be clicked and expanded to view.

Under the Search tab, images from relevant results now appear at the top of the stream, giving users more a more visual snapshot of what's happening.
