Facebook has just given Group Admins a lot more power on the platform. Here’s what you need to know.
Group Think?
Mark Zuckerberg announced the tools at the first-ever Facebook Communities Summit in Chicago.
These tools are aligned with Facebook’s new mission over the next decade: “Give people the power the build community and bring the world closer together”.
The first tool is Group Insights, which will give Admins access to real-time metrics around the growth, engagement, and membership of their Group. This includes the periods where members are most engaged.
There’s also a more streamlined approach to admitting new members, which can be filtered based on categories such as gender and location.
Keep it clean
If your Group has a member acting poorly, Admins can now remove this user and all the content they’ve created in the Group such as posts, comments, and adding other people.
Finally, Group Admins and moderators can now schedule posts, while a Group-linking feature is being tested, which allows Admins to recommend related Groups to members.
Over 1 billion Facebook users around the world use Groups – are you one of them? If so let us know in the Comments.
