While Facebook has faced a lot of flak this year, you can’t accuse the platform of resting on its rather expensive laurels.
Along with a bunch of updates to privacy settings and measures to combat fake news, Facebook has launched Youth Portal to connect with the kids.
Age of Reason
The portal is designed to inform and educated teens around subjects spanning privacy, data retention, bullying, and online safety. There are also broad tips for using social media in a safe and responsible way.
Information is presented in easy-to-read language, and largely stripped of dense legal-speak.
Solid base
Facebook collaborated with policymakers, privacy experts, and UX designers for Youth Portal’s content, and the info is available in 60 languages.
The portal builds on Facebook’s existing practice of sharing tips with teen users, directly in their News Feed.
But this resource is not just for kids. Youth Portal is valuable reading for adults (and marketers) making sure they’re up to speed with Facebook’s latest policy updates.
