Following the milestone of Facebook Stories reaching 150 million daily viewers, the feature is about to do the same as Instagram and Snapchat and focus on Stories adverts.
Daily active users
With the continued increase in story driven social engagement and sharing, Facebook Stories plans to commence ad testing in the US, Mexico, and Brazil.
The five to 15 second video format Facebook plans to use is still being finalised. However we do know ads will be skippable, similar to YouTube’s format.
According to Facebook CPO Chris Cox, Stories is on pace to surpass feed posts as the top method of sharing via social media in the next year.
The ranks
At the moment, the top platforms for Stories are WhatsApp (450 million daily users), Instagram (300 million), Snapchat (191 million), Facebook Stories (150 million), and Messenger (70 million).
As Stories remains the new frontier of advertising, social media platforms are focusing on easy cross-posting between apps, adding 3D editorial tools, 360 degree photos, and image triggers to keep things interesting.
