A new report shows that while personal updates continue to decline, engagement is still increasing across Facebook.
Thumbs up
The study from Mavrck, which analysed 25 million Facebook posts, reveals there was close to a 30% decrease in posts per user last year.
Conversely, engagement per post increased by 26% over the same period.
In other words, people posted less frequently. But when they did, the posts tended to see better engagement levels.
Less is more?
The number of Likes and Comments also increased during 2016. There was a 30.7% rise in Likes per post, and a 19.94% increase in comments per post. Shares per post decreased by 4.81%.
It’s worth noting that average engagement per post was far higher for influencers. Over the course of the year the engagement rate for influential users was 3.5X higher than the average.
