It’s been a busy year on Facebook when it comes to pushing out apps. First it launched Paper, quickly followed by Slingshot and Rooms.
Now Facebook is keeping up the trend with a new Groups app.
Group on
As the name implies, the Groups app is intended to make it easier for users to interact with Facebook Groups they are already a part of.
Users can view and interact with existing Groups, or create new customised Groups. For example, one that consists just of your family members or colleagues.
The app also shows other Groups your friends are part of, and recommends new Groups based on your activity and preferences.
Keep it in the family
Unlike Facebook Messenger, Groups can be accessed from within the Facebook app.
And by giving users the ability to curate their own Groups, Facebook might help address the issue of an increasingly cluttered, and ad-heavy, News Feed.
Facebook Groups is now available on iOS and Android.
