Just like Snapchat and Instagram, Facebook is following the trend of monetising users’ most favoured feature.
Ads with a story
For the first time, marketing is making its way to Facebook Stories in anticipation of more big name brands embracing vertical ad formats.
Advertisers on Facebook will soon be able to book campaigns through Stories, which will take advantage of its alternate media feed of pictures and video.
Brands like Deliveroo, KFC, and PureGym have all taken to the new ad format, while TransferWise tripled its reach in three months and now puts 20% of ad spending straight into Stories.
The ad race
Facebook is now holding what they call “Story sprints” with media agencies, where a brief is expediently answered and assets can be generated quickly, significantly reducing the wait time between idea and action.
Facebook reckons 68% of people use Stories on up to three apps per day, and one campaign can now run across Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Quite the triple play.
