Google’s freemium analytics product, Data Studio, is getting a few new capabilities that could help you consolidate key information more quickly and easily.
Gallery on the go
Data Studio has unveiled three new features: a report gallery, data blending, and a one-click explorer.
The report gallery may be the most broadly useful new . It’s basically a gallery of report templates. If you select one, the template automatically grabs all the necessary data from your linked accounts and presents it in an appealing and hopefully useful way. If you know what you’re doing, you can use the templates as a solid basis and customise to suit your needs.
Blending and exploring
Data blending brings together info from all linked Google Marketing Platform products to create unified visualisations. Non-Google platform partners may be able to feed into them too, but details there are sketchy so far.
The new one-click explorer seems like it might be a fancy name for a redesigned analytics interface along with some slicker third-party integration capability.
Marketing Platform is taking shape as something that can be managed by folks who know marketing and don’t want to spend time on computing technicalities. At all levels, that should speed things up.
If Google takes the tech-know-how requirement out of analytics, will the benefits of big data get democratized, or will they just be diluted?
