Google has just personalised its Google Shopping experience by launching reader reviews that can be shared with a user's Google+ connections.
Shop til you drop
Google Shopping is the online marketplace hosted by Google that lists vendors selling a particular product, as well as pricing information. Search results are based upon both relevance and the bid price merchants pay Google.
As part of this recent announcement Google Shopping has upgraded its review features to help shoppers make more informed decisions before a purchase.
Friendly advice
The first feature prioritises any reviews by a user’s connections on products of interest, through highlighting and listing their review at the top of search results. This allows the buyer to gauge a product’s worth from a trusted source.
Sharing is caring
Buyers are now also able to write and share their own reviews with their connections. Once a product has been purchased, buyers who are logged in with their Google+ account just need to follow the review links. This review is then made public and can also be added to the user’s Google+ stream.
While these changes haven’t altered the usability of Google Shopping, it has made the site and products more social and Google+ more desirable as a social media platform.
