Instagram's at it again: the platform has announced geostickers for Stories.
Unsurprisingly, they work very much like geostickers on Snapchat.
Out and about
When adding images to Instagram Stories, you can now add a stickers showing where your pics was taken. For example, adding the Statue of Liberty sticker to a NYC pic.
There are currently a dozen geostickers available, however locations are limited to New York and Jakarta for now.
Clone wars
The update in some ways completes Instagram's cloning of Snapchat's most popular features. Instagram Stories launched back in August, and looked spookily similar to Snapchat Stories.
Facebook's strategy is working very well indeed. Since launch, Instagram Stories has over 100 million users, and has widely been credited with hobbling Snapchat's growth and less-than-spectacular IPO.
If history's any judge, geostickers for Instagram will be a runaway hit. The real question is how Snapchat responds to Instagram's incursions.
