Instagram has finally embraced Live video chats, joining Messenger, WeChat, Snapchat, and pretty much everyone else.
In the moment
Instagram announced the news in a blog post, explaining that live is now part of Instagram Stories.
To start a stream, simply swipe right from the feed to activate the camera, then tap the "Start Live Video" button.
It's a snap
Feeds can be shared for up to an hour, and your friends will be notified when you're broadcasting. You're able to pin comments, or turn comments off entirely, when broadcasting.
Once a feed is complete it is erased from the app.
Vanishing Act
As part of the update, Instagram also announced that photos and videos will be disappear when using Instagram Direct.
Instagram says this is to encourage users to share content in a spontaneous, carefree way.
It sure worked for Snapchat.
