Instagram makes it easier to follow your favourite accounts

Instagram has just rolled out an update making it easier for users to follow their favourite accounts.

Now users can create a Push Notification that sings out whenever their preferred accounts post a photo or video.

To set up the Notification, users go to the account they want to follow more closely. They then select the ellipsis button at the top right corner and tap "Turn on Post Notifications".

Once enabled, users will be notified whenever the selected account is active.

The update is ostensibly aimed at the legions of users who are soon to own an Apple Watch.

However it's also handy for regular old smartphone Instagram users. For example, brands might benefit from being aware when certain power users and influencers are active, allowing them to engage in a timely fashion.

The Push Notification might also help when keeping an eye on what your competitors are doing.
