MailChimp has just released a new product for SMEs it's calling Product Recommendations.
Product placement
Product Recommendations have long been used by major players like Amazon and Netflix.
Now MailChimp has created a way that allows small businesses to send emails populated with products their subscribers might be likely to purchase.
Buy in
It works like this. You connect your store to MailChimp, which then analyses your sales data. Based on this, MailChimp displays a list of products picked for specific customers.
For example, customers who have recently bought slacks and a matching shirt might be shown a tie by the same designer. Customers who haven't purchased anything recently will be shown your most recent items for sale.
These products can be dropped into a template and added directly to your next email campaign.
Hit Send
You can tweak Product Recommendations to be sent a variety of ways. For example, as an automated workflow after a customer has made a purchase, or to customers you haven't heard from in awhile.
To get started you'll need to upload assets including images, links, and inventory stock.
